I hope this is entertaining. I’m lucky in that I have a life that allows me to indulge a love of beautiful and interesting places, and the purpose of this blog is to share the memories and inspire others to ‘get out there’ and live before you die. It’s all too easy to allow oneself to stagnate, to think ‘One day I will travel’, to eye the 4×4 in your drive and imagine where it -could- take you…. but then things get in the way. Jobs. Mortgage. Kids. Partner. Family. Excuses. Life is short. More than that, you never know when your number’s up. Go. Go now. See what’s over the fence. If you live in the UK, see what’s in Europe before the Brexit-fuelled borders close to those without visas.
Don’t be like the Pink Floyd song “Ticking away the moments that make up a dull day, Fritter and waste the hours in an off-hand way, Kicking around on a piece of ground in your home town – Waiting for someone or something to show you the way, Tired of lying in the sunshine staying home to watch the rain…..You are young and life is long, and there is time to kill today……And then one day you find ten years have got behind you – No one told you when to run, you missed the starting gun…” Go. See how other people live. Make friends. Eat weird stuff. Listen to strange music. Fall in love with impracticable people. Catch bizarre diseases. Go where the stars are strange. Then come back and see your home with new eyes.
Because you never know when…… tick tick tick tick
